These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (the “User”) and the developer of the TableTopSage mobile application (referred to as “we,” “us,” “our,” or “TableTopSage”). TableTopSage is a mobile application designed to let users record, store, and manage board game data (such as collections, play logs, ratings, and statistics) directly on their device (local storage) and optionally synchronize that data with their personal BoardGameGeek account using credentials they provide.

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using TableTopSage (the “App” or “Services”), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must immediately uninstall the App and cease all use. Continued use after any changes to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

1. Modifications of Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notification or update prompt. You are responsible for reviewing the Terms periodically. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Certain features may require acceptance of additional terms.

2. Description of Service

The App provides tools for local storage of board game data on your mobile device and optional one-way or two-way synchronization with BoardGameGeek (BGG) using the username and password (or other credentials) you explicitly provide. All data is stored locally on your device by default. Syncing occurs only when you initiate it and only with your explicit authorization. We do not operate any cloud servers; synchronization happens directly between your device and the BoardGameGeek platform via their public API or login mechanisms.

We may add, remove, or modify features (including sync functionality) at any time without prior notice or liability. The App is provided free of charge unless otherwise stated in the app store listing. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, perfect sync accuracy, or compatibility with future BoardGameGeek API changes.

3. User Accounts, Credentials, and Data

To use the synchronization feature, you must provide your valid BoardGameGeek credentials. By entering them, you grant us a limited, revocable authorization to access your BGG account solely for the purpose of reading, writing, or updating board game data as you direct.

Important credential handling notes

• We do not store your BGG password on any external servers (we have none). Any temporary or local caching occurs only on your device using standard mobile security practices (e.g., encrypted keychain or secure storage).
• You remain solely responsible for the security of your BGG credentials and for all activity that occurs under your BGG account.
• We are not liable for any unauthorized access to your BGG account resulting from credential compromise on your device, phishing, or BoardGameGeek-side issues.
• You may revoke sync authorization at any time by removing credentials from the App settings.

All data you create or import (play logs, collections, ratings, etc.) remains your property. Local data is stored only on your device; uninstalling the App or losing the device will result in permanent loss of local data unless you have backed it up separately. Data synced to BoardGameGeek becomes subject to BoardGameGeek’s own terms of service and privacy policy.

You represent and warrant that all information and data you provide or sync is accurate, legal, and does not violate any third-party rights. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of your User Content.

4. Content and Use of the App

You may submit feedback, suggestions, or bug reports (“Feedback”). Any Feedback becomes our property, and we may use it freely without compensation or attribution.

You are responsible for all data and content you enter or sync. We do not pre-screen User Content but reserve the right to remove or refuse synchronization of any content that we believe violates these Terms.

The App is intended for personal, non-commercial use. You must use it in compliance with all applicable laws. We aim for reliable operation but do not guarantee 24/7 availability or error-free performance. You are responsible for all data charges, device storage, and internet access required to use the App.

5. Restrictions

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App.
• Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the App.
• Copy, distribute, sell, lease, or otherwise transfer the App or any part of it.
• Use the App to transmit viruses, malware, or harmful code.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to BoardGameGeek systems or any other user’s data.
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or to violate BoardGameGeek’s terms of service.
• Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices.

Any violation may result in immediate termination of your right to use the App.

6. Warranty Disclaimer

THE APP AND SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY OF DATA SYNC.

We do not warrant that:

• The App will meet your requirements or be error-free.
• Synchronization will always succeed or preserve all data accurately.
• Local data will survive device loss, factory reset, or app updates.
• BoardGameGeek will continue to support the API methods we use.

Your use of the App and any reliance on synced data is at your sole risk. BoardGameGeek is a third-party service; we are not affiliated with or endorsed by BoardGameGeek and bear no responsibility for their platform, policies, or outages.

7. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold us, our affiliates, officers, employees, and agents harmless from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:

• Your use of the App or synchronization feature.
• Your BGG credentials or account activity.
• Any User Content you create or sync.
• Your violation of these Terms or any law.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR DEVICE DAMAGE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO USE THE APP (IF ANY) IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so they may not apply to you.

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. Surviving provisions include sections on disclaimers, indemnity, limitation of liability, and governing law.

10. Trademarks

“TableTopSage” and its logos are trademarks of the developer. BoardGameGeek and all related marks are trademarks of their respective owners. You may not use any of these marks without prior written permission. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our trademarks or those of BoardGameGeek.

11. Intellectual Property and Copyright

All software, design, and content in the App (excluding your User Content) are owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the App except as expressly permitted.

We respect copyright and will respond to valid notices of infringement in accordance with applicable law.

12. Privacy and Data Handling

We collect and process minimal data:

• Device identifiers and crash logs (if you enable analytics).
• The BGG credentials and data you voluntarily provide solely for synchronization.

All board game data you create is stored locally on your device. We do not transmit any data to our servers (we operate none). When you choose to sync, data is sent directly to BoardGameGeek. Once synced, that data is governed by BoardGameGeek’s privacy policy.

You control your local data at all times. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties except as necessary to provide the sync feature or comply with law. By using the App, you consent to this data handling. For full details, please review our Privacy Policy.

13. Miscellaneous

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App and supersede any prior agreements. No agency, partnership, or joint venture is created.

We are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. If any provision is held invalid, the remainder remains enforceable.

You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them freely.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of the Netherlands. The prevailing party in any litigation is entitled to recover reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs.

By using TableTopSage, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
